Amazonite Named after the Amazon River because of the green rocks that were taken from there in the past, but it is questionable whether green feldspar occurs in the Amazon region. Amazonite belongs to the Silicate Minerals category in the Tectosilicate group and is a potassic feldspar, of the microcline variety. It is characterized by Triclinic crystal system and a hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Amazonite can be found in several countries, of which Brazil, India, the Ural Mountains and Colorado, USA.
