STONE DETAILS
The name jasper is of Eastern origin and is connected to the Hebrew word “yashpeh”. Jasper is a silicate mineral, which belongs to the Chalcedony family and contains impurities of other trace elements which are responsible for the various colors of Jasper. In general, there are many different types of jasper, each with its own unique coloring and patterns. Specifically, the red color of Jasper is due to the presence of iron oxides. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale. Jasper can be found in various countries, some of which are India, Australia, Russia, South Africa, Egypt, USA and Brazil.
