STONE DETAILS
The name “moonstone” was given to this mineral because it appears a floating light, which resembles the glow of the moon through a thin cloud cover. Moonstone is a silicate mineral with the chemical formula (Νa,K) AlSi₃O₈ and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. It is characterised by the monoclinic crystal system and it can be found in different colors such as white, grey, brown-peach and green. Moonstone is derived from various countries, including Sri Lank, Brazil, Australia, the USA, India and Madagascar.
