Onyx The word Onyx comes from the Greek word “onux”, which means nail. It is a type of chalcedony that belongs to the silicate minerals with a chemical composition of SiO₂. Onyx is characterized by its distinctive parallel banding pattern, the hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale and the trigonal crystal system. Onyx derives from many different countries including Brazil, Mexico, Pakistan, Uruguay, Iran, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Madagascar, the USA, and India.

Chrysocolla Chrysocolla takes its name from the two Greek words “chryso” and “kolla”, because it bears a strong resemblance to the substance used to solder gold in ancient times. Chrysocolla is a hydrated aluminum, copper silicate mineral which is characterized by the orthorhombic crystal system and the hardness of 2-4 on the Mohs scale. Chrysocolla can be found in different countries, some of which are Chile, the USA, Russia, England, Peru, Australia, Congo, Israel and Mexico.
