STONE DETAILS

Amazonite Amazonite takes its name from the River Amazon, due to the fact that green stones were found there in the past, but it is doubtful that those stones were Amazonite. Amazonite is a silicate mineral, belonging to the group of the tectosilicates and it has a chemical formula of KAlSi₃O₈. It is characterized by the triclinic crystal system and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Amazonite can be found in different countries, including Brazil, India, Australia, South Africa, the Ural Mountains of Russia, and the USA.

Amethyst The word Amethyst has its origins in the Greek words “a” and “methw” Not Intoxicated, as in years gone by, it was believed that Amethyst protected against drunkenness. Amethyst belongs to the quartz family and it is a silicate mineral with a chemical formula SiO₂. Its color is due to the presence of iron. Amethyst is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Amethyst is derived mostly from Brazil and Uruguay.
