STONE DETAILS

Apatite The word Apatite comes from the Greek “απατώ” (fraud) because it is often amalgamated with other minerals. Apatite is a phosphoric calcite, characterized by the hexagonal  crystal system and the hardness of 5 on the Mohs scale. Apatite can be found in many countries, including Brazil, USA, India Sri Lanka, Pakistan Africa and Mexico.

Pyrite The word “pyrite” is taken from the Greek word «πυρ» meaning Fire. That name was given to the mineral, as Pyrite was used to spark flames to light fires. As for its chemical composition, Pyrite is an Iron Sulphide, which is characterized by the cubic crystal system and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs. Pyrite is derived mostly from Peru .
