STONE DETAILS
Lapis Lazuli Lapis lazuli comes from the Persian word ”lazhuward” (sky blue). It is a silicon mineral and belongs in the group of tectosilicate minerals. Lapis Lazuli has strong blue color, due to Lazurite, which is the main component of Lapis Lazuli. It contains also calsite (white), sodalite (blue) and pyrite (“gold” shimmers). It is characterized by the hardness of 5-5.5 on the Mohs and the Isometric crystal system. Lapis Lazuli can be found in different countries, including Afghanistan, the USA, Canada, Argentina, India, Pakistan, Russia and Chile.
Hematite The word Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood, due to the red coloration found in some varieties of Hematite. It is an iron oxide with a chemical composition of Fe2O3, which is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 5-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, India, the USA, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Russia, Ukraine and New Zealand.
