STONE DETAILS

Lapis Lazuli:
Its name comes from the Persian word lazhward, which means “blue of the sky”. It belongs to the group of silicate minerals, which are characterised by the presence of silicon and oxygen in their chemical composition. It has a dark blue colour, which is due to its main component, lazurite. Lazuli lapis also contains calcite (white), sodalite (blue) and iron pyrite (which forms golden specks on the rock). It is characterised by an isometric crystal structure and has a hardness of 5-5,5 on the Mohs scale. Lapis Lazuli is sourced from a number of countries, with Afghanistan being the best known extraction area. Other countries of origin include the USA, Canada, Argentina, India, India, Pakistan, Russia and Chile.

Azurite-Malachite:
Azuromalachite is a natural mineral that is a combination of two distinguished minerals, azurite and malachite. Its dark blue colour is derived from Azurite, while the bright green colour is due to Malachite. Azurite has a chemical composition of Cu₃(CO₃)₂(OH)₂ and a monoclinic crystal structure, while Malachite has a chemical composition of Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂ and a rhombic crystal structure. In Azuromalachite, the two minerals retain their own distinct structures and chemical compositions. It is characterized by a hardness of 3.5-4 on the Mohs scale and is found in various regions of the world, including Africa (mainly the Congo), Southeast Asia, the USA, China and Greece.
