STONE DETAILS
The word Amethyst has its origins in the Greek words “a” and “methw”, “Not Intoxicated”, as in years gone by, it was believed that Amethyst protected against drunkenness. Amethyst belongs to the quartz family and it is a silicate mineral with a chemical formula SiO2. The presence of pink color is due to the inclusions of Hematite within the Quartz. Amethyst is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Pink Amethyst is derived from South America.
