STONE DETAILS
Onyx The word Onyx comes from the ancient Greek and means nail. It is a silicate mineral (silicone dioxide), that belongs to the Quartz family and it is formed of bands of chalcedony in alternating colors. Onyx is characterized by the hardness of 6- 7 on the Mohs scale and the trigonal crystal system. Onyx derives from different countries including Brazil, Mexico, Algeria, Uruguay, Greece, Germany, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, the USA, Latin America and India.
Tiger Eye This stone takes its name from its colour and iridescence which resemble that of a tiger’s eye. Tiger Eye is a silicone mineral, which belongs to the tectosilicate group and quartz family with a mobile reflection. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale. This stone can be found in different countries such as S. Africa, India, China and Burma.
Hematite Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood, due to the red coloration found in some varieties of Hematite. It is an Iron Oxide, which is characterized by the hexagonal crystal system and the hardness of 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.
