Tiger’s Eye The word Hematite comes from the Greek word “aima” which means Blood, due to the red coloration found in some varieties of Hematite. It is an iron oxide with a chemical composition of Fe₂O₃, which is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 5-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Hematite can be found in various countries, including Brazil, India, the USA, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Russia, Ukraine and New Zealand.
