STONE DETAILS

Chrysocolla Chrysocolla  takes its name from the two Greek words “chryso” and “colla” because it bears a strong resemblance to the substance used to solder gold in ancient times. Chrysocolla is an aluminium silicate which is characterized by the orthorhombic crystal system and the hardness of 2-4 on the Mohs scale. Chrysocolla can be found in different countries, some of which are Chile, the USA, Russia, Great Britain, Peru, Greece, and Mexico.

Pyrite The word “pyrite” is taken from the Greek word “pyr” meaning Fire. That name was given to the mineral, as Pyrite was used to spark flames to light fires. As for its chemical composition, Pyrite is an Iron Sulphide, which is characterized by the cubic crystal system and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Pyrite is derived mostly from Peru .
