STONE DETAILS

This mineral is named after the Dutch commander of the military forces of South Africa Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn who first brought prehnite from South Africa to Europe. It is an inosilicate mineral of calcium and aluminium, which is characterized by the orthorhombic crystal system and the hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale. Some of the most important deposits come from South Africa, the USA, Germany, Australia, China, Canada, Scotland and France.
