STONE DETAILS
Chalcedony The name of this stone is of Latin origin and probably comes from the area Halkidona in Turkey, where this mineral was first discovered. Chalcedony is a silicate mineral, belonging to the Tectosilicate group and Quartz family. It is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale. Chalcedony is found predominantly in India, S. Africa, Turkey, Madagascar, Mexico, Brazil and the USA.
Crystal Quartz The name Quartz derives from the German word “Quartz” that is of Slavic origin. The Ancient Greeks referred to quartz as “xalazias” that derives from the Greek word “xalaza”, which means hail, due to the fact that in ancient times many people believed that it is solidified water. Quartz is a silicate mineral, belonging to the group of the tectosilicates and it has a chemical formula of SiO2. Quartz is characterized by the trigonal crystal system and the hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. It can be found in many different places worldwide, including Brazil, the USA, Sri Lanka, India and Madagascar.
